About the Author

Although my story is reminiscent of the Great Depression years, it could happen at any time when the economy is fragile. This story tells about a young boy and his family who encountered this situation and were forced to live in poverty. The young boy faced these hardships and learned how to overcome them.

Being an artist has helped me not only to bring images onto my canvas but also to the written word. I have been an artist all of my life, but I also love music and play in a community concert band.

I have concentrated on my art more than anything and have received many awards, including three national first place prizes for the Daughter of the American Revolution.

Even though writing has not been my forte, I have been able to read my poems and short stories before an audience where they have been well received.

I live in a rural area where my husband and I reared seven children. We have given homes to numerous stray cats that blended in with children and dogs. So it seems natural that I use animals for my subjects in both art and writing.
